And now the 40-year-old has revealed that it was her boyfriend Joshua Gross who ‘pushed’ her to go on the show and to return to singing.

‘I only told him but he was really proud because I never sang, not even in the shower,’ Sophie said.

‘I think I was just really young in the industry and I kind of went, “I don’t want to do this anymore.”

She added that Joshua was ‘very supportive’ of her decision to go on The Masked Singer.

‘He pushed me to get back into it and said, “I want you to start singing” so he was very supportive.’

Sophie was revealed as the dragonfly on The Masked Singer Australia on Monday.

On Tuesday, she appeared on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show and said she plans to get back into music by releasing a jazz song.

It comes 16 years after she parted ways with her record label following a short-lived solo career.

She explained that her tastes have changed since her Bardot days, and she no longer wants to make bubblegum pop music like she used to.

Sophie’s music career began in 1999, when she competed on reality show Popstars.

She went on to form the band Bardot, which was active from 2000 to 2002, before embarking on a solo career with Warner Music. She left her label two years later.

Elsewhere in the interview, Sophie said she had no animosity towards her former bandmates, even though some of them seem to hold a grudge against her.

When asked about Tiffani Wood’s recent criticism of her appearance on The Masked Singer, she said: ‘I don’t know what to say, to be honest.

‘I’ve spoken to one of the girls, but the others I haven’t spoken to for 18 years.’

She added: ‘I don’t want to say anything unkind, to be honest. I think this year’s been such a tough year for everyone. I just wish everyone the best, really.

‘It’s like school. I haven’t spoken to them in years and years.’

After Sophie was unmasked as the Dragonfly on Monday’s episode of The Masked Singer, Tiffani, 42, lashed out on Instagram Stories.

‘I thought Sophie was too busy for a Bardot reunion. I mean… she’s wearing a dragonfly costume, singing on a stage, while I have to try and get six kids to sleep before the show comes on,’ she wrote.

Bardot celebrated their 20th anniversary this year, and the band reunited for a series of media appearances to mark the occasion.

But Sophie was noticeably absent, and Daily Mail Australia understands she is keen to distance herself from the girl band.

Sophie told The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show that she didn’t think a reunion was realistic given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘I think this year anyway, we can’t really tour or do anything anyway… I wish them the best. I think they should do it anyway if they want to do it,’ she said.
