‘I’m still learning’: Sia regrets announcing that her adopted teenage son had welcomed two children because it ‘wasn’t her news to share’
Sia revealed in late June that she had become a grandmother at the age of 44 – just weeks after announcing she’d adopted two teenage sons last year.
But a month and a half later, the Australian singer has expressed regret over announcing that one of her sons had welcomed ‘two babies’ of his own, admitting that it ‘wasn’t [her] news to share’.
She told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday that she has since realised it’s her ‘job to protect her children and not blab about what’s going on in their lives’.

When asked about her new responsibilities as a grandmother, Sia said: ‘I’ve decided to stop talking about it.
‘I made a bit of a boo-boo because they’re my new children. I’ve only had them for a year. I’m such an open book that I forget not everyone else is.
‘While I didn’t get into trouble for blabbing about his [her son’s] children – I was peeing, which is where I have my best thoughts, and I realised that it was not my news to share with the world.’
Radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson agreed, saying that she doesn’t like to share details about her nine-year-old daughter, Kitty, either.

Sia responded: ‘I instantly realised I can’t talk about my children’s private lives. I’m just learning how to be a mother.’
The Chandelier hitmaker had told DJ Zane Lowe on his Apple Music podcast on June 30: ‘My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f**king grandma! I’m just immediately horrified. No, I’m cool.’
Sia first announced she had adopted two sons during an interview with SiriusXM in late May.
The musician, who almost always covers her face in public to maintain her anonymity, smiled as she expressed her love for her new family.

The Adelaide-born singer did not reveal their names nor discuss them further.
Speaking previously to The Kyle and Jackie O Show in June, the notoriously private star said of her adopted kids: ‘They had extremely traumatic lives, and I had the resources to adopt them.
‘These boys both had lived in about 18 homes each in their 18 years and never had any stability.
‘They had extremely traumatic lives and I had the resources to adopt them and give them the resources to deal with their trauma and any therapy for their problems and the difficulty they’ve faced.’
