TALK OF THE TOWN: US entrepreneur to trademark HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey

TALK OF THE TOWN: This spud you’ll like, Meghan: US entrepreneur has applied to trademark line of fruit and veg called… HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey

Meghan Markle is in line for the ultimate in prestige: a spud named in her honour.

An American entrepreneur has applied in the US to trademark a line of fruit, veg, flowers and herbs called HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey.

Meghan herself is banned from using her title for commercial purposes.

But that does not stop others, such as Karam Amnau, from New Jersey, who has filed documents with the US Patent and Trademark Office asking for permission to protect the phrase: HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey.

She’ll be in good company if we start seeing Duchess spuds alongside King Edwards on the supermarket shelves.

The Countess of Durham was delighted to announce she has welcomed a new baby to the world – even if she couldn’t resist plugging her outfit as well!

While introducing baby Arthur via Instagram, Marina Lambton – who is in lockdown in Siena, Italy – said: ‘Wearing my Villa Cetinale robe with my newborn son, Arthur. Both perfect!’

Arthur is the fourth child for the former model and her husband the Earl of Durham – musician Ned Lambton.

There is a 20-year age gap between Marina and Ned, 58, who is twice-divorced and has four children from his first two marriages.
