Couple raffle their stunning £475,000 three-bedroom beach home with garden studio for £2.50 a ticket

A couple are raffling off their stunning three-bedroom house in West Sussex for £2.50 a ticket – and the winner will walk away with a £475,000 mortgage-free home.

Former professional snowboarder Jan Michaelis, a two-time Olympian and halfpipe world cup winner, and his wife Alina ‘reluctantly’ decided to put the property on the market to find somewhere bigger to accommodate their growing family and relatives from abroad.

Sea Mist Bungalow is a modern bungalow situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of the affluent village of West Wittering, where famous neighbours include Keith Richards, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Kate Winslet and Michael Ball.

The home is in walking distance of the blue flag beaches at East Head which are ranked among Britain’s most beautiful, and in a National Trust Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It also boasts a secluded 256 sq ft one-bedroom garden cabin complete with an en suite and its own sunny decked terrace.

Jan, 42, originally from Hamburg, Germany, told FEMAIL they decided to launch the competition to give someone the opportunity to enjoy a ‘dream life by the beach’.

‘We reluctantly decided to sell and find a bigger place locally that will accommodate our growing families from abroad for longer visits in the future,’ he explained.

‘We opted for the raffle route as we see it as an opportunity to do something good whilst selling our house. We want to raise £50,000 for charities close to our heart whilst giving away our home to one lucky winner on October 30 this year.

‘And with no mortgage to pay and stamp duty and conveyancing fees covered, there really is nothing to lose!’

The competition launched last week on August 6 and Jan said it has already attracted a great deal of interest.

He added: ‘We know a lot of people are currently looking to get on the property ladder, relocate or change their lifestyles.

‘The surge in staycations also shows that a lot of people are not travelling abroad and are making the most of home offices and flexible working arrangements whilst spending time in beautiful places.

‘It’s definitely been a lot of work to put this together and a steep learning curve, but we’re just really excited to be here and have launched our website successfully.’

Jan and Alina, who have a daughter, have lived in the property for over eight years and during this time have modernised and extended the bungalow to include the studio annex.
