Roman Kemp ‘takes a temporary break from his Capital FM radio show after being left devastated by the death of a close friend’

Roman Kemp has reportedly taken a break from his Capital FM breakfast radio show after being devastated by the death of a close friend.

The radio host, 27, and his co-stars Sian Welby and Sonny Jay came off air mid-way through their radio show on Tuesday after learning the heartbreaking news. 

The Sun reports that the trio were in ‘complete shock’ after learning about the death of their close pal who they had all worked with.

It’s said that Roman and his co-stars have been granted leave by their radio bosses for the rest of the week, with replacements being drafted in for the group.

A source told the publication: ‘Roman and his colleagues are in complete shock, they can’t believe someone they were all close to is gone.

‘They’ve all been left completely shattered by the upsetting news and are taking some time to grieve and digest the tragedy.

‘It’s a tough time for them all right now.’

Rob Howard, 31, and Lauren Layfield, 32, are standing in for the trio for the remainder of this week as they take time to process the devastating news. 

A Capital Radio spokesperson added: ‘We can confirm that Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield will host Capital Breakfast for the rest of this week.’

Roman, who is the son of Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp, has had huge success of the radio show, with the breakfast programme regularly pulling in four million listeners.

His fame soared when he took part in last year’s I’m A Celebrity, where he finished in third place behind winner Jacqueline Jossa and Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment. 

Roman has also starred on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside his famous dad, while the duo have also recently launched their own show, Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best!

Meanwhile, in his personal life, it’s reported he’s began dating Kate Moss’ little sister Lottie Moss, 22, just three months after splitting from long-term girlfriend Anne-Sophie Flury.
