The VMAs will air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 30, and will be following new safety guidelines in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced in June the event would take place at the iconic arena with ‘limited or no audience’.

On top of the usual awards going out that night, this year marks the introduction of two new honors recognizing work produced during the pandemic: Best Music Video From Home and Best Quarantine Performance.

Among those competing for Best Music Video From Home include Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Drake, and John Legend, while R&B duo Chloe x Halle are up for Best Quarantine Performance.
