Charlize Theron hosts socially-distanced drive-in screening of Mad Max: Fury Road to help raise money for her youth charity
Charlize Theron hosted a special socially-distanced drive-in screening of her 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road in Los Angeles.
Friday’s event at the popular LA shopping mall The Grove benefited the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), which champions young people living in Africa by investing in organizations that prioritize and advance the health, education, and community support of these youth.
Ahead of the screening, the Academy Award-winning actress, who played Furiosa in the post-apocalyptic action film, joined co-star Nicholas Hoult on stage for a special Q&A.

Dressed casually in cream-colored denim pants and a black t-shirt that read: ‘We should all be feminists’ on the front, Theron fielded questions about the movie which went on to earn more than $375 million at the box office.
She also adhered to the health and safety mandate amid the still raging COVID-19 pandemic and wore a black protective mask while out in public spaces.
Hoult, who played the role of Nux in the visually-stylized thriller, and actress Aisha Tyler also wore masks during the Q-and-A session.
As a precaution, guests at the event had to remain in their vehicles at all times, with the exception of restroom breaks.

Earlier this year, Theron and CTAOP partnered with Entertainment Industry Foundation and CARE to launch the Together for her campaign to help against gender-based violence during COVID-19
Mad Max: Fury Road was co-written, co-produced, and directed by George Miller, the same man who helmed the original film Mad Max (1979) and sequels Mad Max 2 (1981) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985).
Along with Theron and Hoult, the reboot starred Tom Hardy, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Abbey Lee and Courtney Eaton.
Considered by many critics as one of the best action films of all time, Fury Road received 10 Academy Award nominations, winning six trophies for Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Film Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.
Miller has confirmed there will be another installment in the franchise — a stand-alone prequel centered on a young Furiosa that will feature a new actress in the role.
