Rachael Finch pens tribute to grandmother after she passes away on her 95th birthday

Rachael Finch has mourned the loss of her grandmother with a heartbreaking tribute on Monday afternoon.  

The model announced the tragic news in a post shared to Instagram, revealing that her Nana passed away on her milestone 95th birthday on Sunday. 

Remembering her as a ‘beautiful soul’, Rachael emotionally recalled her grandmother telling her she was ‘happy’ during their last phone conversation just hours before she died.  

Rachael shared a sweet snap on Instagram, which saw her gently resting her head on her grandmother.

‘Heaven has another angel’ she began her heartfelt tribute. ‘Nana turned 95 yesterday, and on the same day she left our world.’

‘I spoke to her on the phone in the afternoon after not being allowed to see her face to face. She asked how the kids were, and after I asked how she had been feeling, she calmly said, “I’m happy Rachy.” That made me happy.

‘Hard to swallow. But forever grateful to have had a beautiful soul in our life who was beyond strong. 

‘Nana would always sit in her chair and say things like “keep going”, “learn more”, “work hard”, “you can do it”. I’ll never forget those words and I’ll never forget your kind face.’  

Sydney-based Rachael was spending a lot of time in Queensland recently, and presumably, it was because she wanted to be closer to her grandmother.

Rachael, who was born and raised in Townsville, QLD, was joined on the trip with her husband Michael Miziner and their two children, daughter Violet, six, and son Dominic, three.

The brunette soared to fame after winning Miss. Universe Australia in 2009.

She now works as a certified health coach, personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur.
