First-class delivery! Heartwarming moment postman hopscotches up garden path as he delivers the mail

  • The postman enjoyed the child’s game outside a house in Caversham, Reading
  • A hopscotch path had been drawn outside by Jessica Hamersteen’s family
  • She says it was not her usual postman but the family want him to return soon

A postman was clearly enjoying the sunny weather this week when he was caught on camera hopscotching up a path to deliver mail.

CCTV above Jessica Hamersteen’s doorway caught the postman happily jumping up to their house in Caversham, Reading, on July 21.

The game was chalked onto the path outside her home the evening before by her niece Renée, 11, nephew Theo, nine, and husband Herbert, 33.

The limestone rocks used to sketch the game had been collected by Herbert and the children on their Sunday evening walk.

In the video, the postman approaches the path outside the family’s home while listening to music.

He notices the hopscotch path chalked onto the ground and begins to hop along it.

The postman completes the course within seconds and delivers the mail without breaking his stride.

He then walks off past their car in the driveway on the sunny morning.

Marketing consultant Jessica, said: ‘My husband wanted to do something funny and to see if anybody would play it.

‘We hadn’t really seen this postman before, he’s not our usual postman.’

They tried to tempt the postman the next day and sketched out a ‘floor is lava’ game onto the path, but unfortunately he didn’t return.

She added: ‘The children have enjoyed playing with the chalks on the pavement outside.

‘We’re going to keep making games and hopefully the postman will come back.’
