The series begins 30 years after Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) defeated Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) at the All-Valley Karate Tournament as depicted in the 1984 classic film The Karate Kid.

LaRusso is now a successful adult, though he struggles to find a balance between his personal and professional life without the guidance of Mr. Miyagi.

He must come face-to-face with his former rival, the down-and-out Johnny Lawrence, who tries to redeem himself by reopening the Cobra Kai dojo he studied at.

Lawrence also mentors a bullied kid named Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena), as the Cobra Kai dojo becomes a haven for social outcasts seeking refuge from bullying.

The series also stars Courtney Henggler as Daniel’s wife, Amanda LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Johnny’s son Tanner and Mary Mouser as Daniel’s daughter Samantha.

Cobra Kai debuted in May 2018 to critical acclaim, and was renewed for a second season just a week after it’s successful debut.
