‘Sad it’s all over!’ MasterChef viewers heap praise on winner Emelia Jackson and runner-up Laura Sharrad after the show’s epic finale

While there could only be one winner during MasterChef’s epic finale on Monday, fans were equally proud of winner Emelia Jackson and runner-up Laura Sharrad.

Viewers rushed to Twitter moments after Emelia, 30, was announced as the winner of MasterChef: Back to Win to congratulate both women.

‘What beautiful, gracious, honesty from both of them. Sad it’s all over… Congratulations to all involved,’ tweeted one viewer.

Many fans thought Emelia was a deserving winner, praising her quiet diligence throughout the competition.

‘Love that someone who started out lacking confidence and filled with doubt triumphed and had her much deserved moment to shine. Congratulations Emilia [sic],’ tweeted one viewer, adding, ‘Laura – you were a classy runner up.’

‘The quiet achiever. What a deserving winner, what an incredible season,’ wrote one fan, while another added, ‘My mum says Emilia [sic] was humble, and that’s why she deserved to win (among other things of course)’.

Others thought Laura, 24, also deserved recognition, especially after badly burning her hand and pushing through the pain to complete the challenge.  

‘Devastated for Laura, I was so hoping she took it out. Still a superstar in my books,’ tweeted one fan.

Emelia ultimately won the judges over with her dessert, a pistachio financier with pistachio mousse, Davidson Plum, raspberry sorbet and meringue. 

‘I just… can’t believe it! Like, just, like, the most special experience of my life,’ the stunned chef stammered after being announced as the winner.
