Corrie’s Sally Carman shows off dazzling engagement ring from Joe Duttine as she leaves work

She’s had much to celebrate during the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, when her Coronation Street co-star Joe Duttine proposed to her in March.

And Sally Carman, 39, still appeared to be on cloud nine on Friday, when she was spotted leaving work with a huge smile on her face, while sporting her dazzling emerald engagement ring.

Going casual in jeans and a black T-shirt under a mustard yellow jacket, the actress looked relaxed and happy as she made her way out of Manchester’s MediaCityUK.

Donning a pair of brown heavy duty boots, the bespectacled screen star carried a large bag over her shoulder, while a bum bag rested around her waist.

However, it was her ring that served as the real star of her ensemble, shining brightly as she strolled along the city streets following a day of work.

Earlier this month, Sally and Joe, 50, spoke candidly about their engagement as they appeared on Good Morning Britain.

The soap stars, who play Tim Metcalfe and Abi Franklin in the ITV show, revealed how they fell for each other, admitting they ‘clicked slowly’ as their friendship blossomed into a full-blown romance.

On their transition from co-stars to fiancé and fiancée, actress Sally shared: ‘We clicked slowly. We were friends for a while but started sharing puddings and that’s when I thought something was on the boil.’

The TV star also joked she’s ‘glad’ they don’t share many scenes together as she added: ‘Johnny is a bit of a joker so he can put you off his stride. I lived with the horse in the back room for a bit. That was all right.’

As busy thespians, their schedules often see them rehearse lines from their long scripts.

When asked whether they help each other out with their work at home, Joe said: ‘We tend to let each other get on with it, if there’s a lot of lines in the script we might help each other, but you need to leave work at work.’

Corrie stars returned to set a few weeks ago following months away from the soap due to the global crisis.

Teasing details about their comeback, Sally said: ‘We were desperate to get back to work, we’ve never been so grateful to be working as so many of our friends aren’t.

‘They’ve handled it perfectly. It’s been so smooth and really enjoyable as we’re doing two of three-handers, which is lovely as an actor. The canteen isn’t open. There’s not much of a selection.’

The duo were first pictured together in August 2018, and moved in together last November.

They told their colleagues about their budding romance at the soap’s summer party in Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse.

A source told The Sun: ‘Both Joe and Sally had been single for a while and just met at the right time in their lives.

‘Sally thinks Joe is a funny and caring guy and he’s really fallen for her, too. They’ve now told their castmates and everyone thinks it’s a match made in heaven.’

Joe joined Corrie first in 2013 as Tim, the biological father of Faye Windass, with his earlier storylines often focusing on his relationship with her adoptive family.

Sally, who is also known for starring as Kelly Maguire in Shameless, made her first appearance on the soap in 2017 when she was introduced as the mother of Seb Franklin.
