Channel 10 reveals surprise details about the MasterChef: Back to Win finale – and FINALLY confirms when the winner will be announced

The grand finale of MasterChef: Back to Win will air in less than two weeks’ time.  

Channel 10 announced on Thursday that the 90-minute special will hit screens on Monday, July 20 at 7.30pm.

The network also revealed a few surprises this year, including that the contestants will have to serve a three-course meal.

‘The judges reveal they have four hours to each serve a three-course meal, including an entrée, a main and a dessert, for the judges and their fellow contestants,’ a spokesperson said.

The contestants will have access to the garden and the pantry, and whoever offers the most impressive menu wins the competition.

‘With access to the garden, an open pantry and over 60 plates of food to serve, whoever delivers the most impressive menu will be crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia 2020 Back to Win,’ the statement concluded.

The winner will be awarded a $250,000 cash prize and a healthy career boost.  

It comes after Daily Mail Australia reported on June 22 that every major bookmaker was tipping Emelia Jackson to win the show, suggesting some degree of insider knowledge.

MasterChef is filmed in advance and there are plenty of people – including the cast, crew and publicists – who know the outcome.

It’s possible one of these insiders leaked the result, causing a surge in online bets that resulted in Emelia’s odds being slashed significantly.

Fan favourite Poh Ling Yeow was eliminated on Sunday. 

Her departure left Reynold Poernomo, Callum Hann, Reece Hignell, Laura Sharrad and Emelia in the competition.
