Reality stars are constantly under a microscope when it comes to fashion.

But Mishel Karen has thrown personal style out the window to support the Australian charity Foodbank.

On Thursday, the Married At First Sight star, 49, posed in a pair of Adidas slides and brightly coloured socks, while promoting the charity’s new campaign #IGiveASock, which provides essential winter clothing items to homeless people in Australia.

For every post shared on social media using the hashtag, the Australian brand Underworks will donate socks, underwear and thermals to people experiencing homelessness this winter.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, Mishel revealed she wasn’t ashamed to go against the fashion grain, admitting she often wears socks and sandals in her day-to-day life.

‘I can be a Birkenstocks and socks kind of person, that’s my thing. Though I also wear Adidas slides with socks, just not usually in public!’ she said.

Mishel also explained she has a long history working with the homeless, so she feels personally connected to this cause.

‘I’ve worked with people experiencing homelessness and know how big of an impact a helping hand can have,’ Mishel said.

She continued: ‘If everyone spends 30 seconds posting a silly sock photo we’ll reach our goal of 20,000 items of essential clothing.

‘Lots of people aren’t in a position to donate money at the moment, so this is a great way of doing your bit to help people in need.’

On Instagram, Mishel posted a photo of her feet while donning the slippers she wore while on MAFS.

‘Thank you so much for helping with homelessness in Australia. Every little bit helps,’ she told her 95,800 followers.
