Billie Eilish’s mom reveals she almost sent teen to therapy in 2012 because of her infatuation with Justin Bieber

Long before she was a Grammy-winning recording artist, Billie Eilish was a Belieber.

And on Tuesday’s episode of her Apple Music podcast me & dad radio, the 18-year-old’s mom Maggie Baird recalled just how infatuated her daughter was with the Canadian hitmaker.

She described how, in 2012, Billie was beside herself over the music video for Justin Bieber’s single As Long As You Love Me, so much so that she and husband Patrick O’Connell considered sending her to therapy.

Revelation: Billie Eilish’s mom Maggie Baird said Tuesday she and dad Patrick O’Connell almost sent their daughter to therapy over her infatuation with Justin Bieber. The trio and Billie’s brother Finneas are pictured in December 2019

Baird, 61, spoke about ‘driving to the dance studio with Billie, playing this song, sobbing, and then driving back and sobbing.’

She went on: ‘And the video, and Billie talking about it, and being excited it was coming out, and just crying and crying…. I just want to say, we did consider taking you to therapy because you were in so much pain over Justin Bieber.’

Billie and her dad Patrick host the podcast that mixes music they like with stories about their lives.

And the teen singer explained that it wasn’t just Bieber who made her sob.

On an episode of the singer's Apple Music podcast me & dad radio, Baird, 61, recalled how back in 2012, Billie couldn't stop talking and crying over Bieber's As Long As You Love Me

Speaking about her mental health struggles, she shared: ‘There was a period where I cried every single day of my life, when I was like 13, 14, 15. Every single day I cried.’

‘And 17, 18 I cried barely at all. I’m proud to say I barely cry anymore and its one thing I’ve overcome.’

Billie added: ‘This is a big deal. Not that it’s wrong to cry, but it’s a good thing I feel happier in my life and I don’t want to cry anymore.’

Billie found fame with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? that was released last year.

It spawned six Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 singles and was the best-performing album of 2019 in the US.

The album along with its single Bad Guy earned her six Grammy Awards this past February.
