Holly Willoughby was sure to kick off Tuesday’s episode of This Morning with a risqué innuendo.
The mother-of-three, 39, was talking about a breed of dog with her co-host Phillip Schofield, and dropped a clanger a mere two minutes into the family-friendly show.
Phil, 58, was referencing a bichon frise / cocker spaniel dog, telling Holly that the mixed breed was called a cock-a-chon.

Holly wasted no time in declaring: ‘I like a cock-a-chon!’
‘Do you?’ Phil noted, smuttily, as the This Morning crew could be heard tittering from behind the cameras in the background.
Holly burst into laughter too and hid her face behnd her script.
‘I hope Russell Crowe can’t hear us!’ she remarked, with the Hollywood star on the line waiting to be interviwed by the pair.
But he did indeed hear Holly’s comment and poked fun at the bubbly star over it.
‘[I heard] your introduction… those lovely photos of the doggies’ he remarked.

‘Oh god, you heard! Thought I’d got away with that one!’ Holly giggled, embarrassed about her snafu.

He talked to Holly and Phil from the Outback to discuss the film and why his sons chose to stay with their mum in Sydney during lockdown.
Speaking of his new film, which depicts an unstable man’s uncontrollable road rage, Russell explained: ‘Normally my job is to bring my bag of tricks along and I’m trying to add complexity.
‘I’m doing my research, or whatever, and I’m trying to build those tiny little steps that keep people connected with the journey, but the challenge with this character is actually draining all of the humanity out of what you’re doing. There’s no justification for this man’s actions.

‘At first when I read it, I didn’t think I wanted to do it, but then I started to realise that we’re seeing these explosions of white hot rage more and more in society.
‘This character uses his car as a weapon, but we’ve seen people walking into houses of worship and opening fire, at schools and nightclubs, and more recently we’ve seen people go crazy in supermarket aisles over a roll of toilet paper.
‘So it just seems to be a place that we’ve come to in Western society and once I realised that I was afraid of the subject matter, it’s just like a natural thing for me to go, ‘That’s the one I have to do.’
Speaking about how Steven Spielberg’s Duel and Jaws films influenced this movie, Russell continued: ‘It can’t end in any other way than his own destruction with the way in which he’s going about things…
‘This sort of thing seems to be coming up more and more and that’s why for me it became an important thing to do, because it is commenting directly on that.

‘There’s this place that we’ve reached where it seems to be that people who are on opposite sides of a particular political question can’t seem to have a polite conversation anymore. They can’t actually seem to discuss things through, they’re so absolutely sure that their perspective is right.
‘And as the guy says in the movie, “We’ve come to a place where we find it impossible to apologise to anyone for anything.” It doesn’t matter that it’s this particular person, it doesn’t matter what she’s even said, something was going to set this guy aflame.
‘He is already triggered before the narrative of the movie begins. And it just takes this small, innocuous event to turn this guy into this destructive ball of rage.
‘And it’s funny, you think that decisions that people are making in various places around the world, and we see this white hot rage more and more.’
Russell also spoke about how it was the most relaxed film set that he had been on in more than 20 years and how they found themselves having very perverse conversations, such as ‘Today’s the day we’re going to crush the people with the cement truck!’ It gets very weird.’

The film was shot in New Orleans, which Russell called ‘one of the friendliest cities in the world.’
Referencing that the film is due to be one of the first major releases since the global pandemic, he said: ‘There is going to be a ‘traffic jam’ with all these movies being held out, you’re now looking at half a year of releases or more.
‘So Solstice, the studio that made this film, it’s a very young studio, this is actually their first major release, but it’s a studio that’s full of very experienced people from all over the place with different backgrounds, and they looked at the landscape as it existed and as it was unfolding and they’ve decided to take the risk to go first. Somebody’s got to do it.’
Russell added: ‘I’m enjoying the fact that it seems so many people are missing going to the movies. That is the perverse self-preservation thing that we as humans do, we wanna go back to the place where the crazy stuff happens on the screen, not actually in our lives…

‘I’m missing the movie experience too. Absolutely, I want to go back to that room and sit and watch a great story unfold. It’s a really solid touchstone that has been in our lives for a hundred years or more now.’
And finally Russell spoke about not seeing his sons during lockdown: ‘We don’t have the same household anymore, there’s two households because I divorced their mum.
‘And so they live a lot of the time with their mum, but there was the opportunity with them going into isolation for them to come to the Bush, which is totally set up for that kind of situation, but they both decided they would prefer to stay in the big city [Sydney], surrounded by population because of their access to Uber Eats!
‘So I just had to take it on the chin and deal with, but it’s school holidays here at the moment and so things are significantly more relaxed than they were three months ago so I’m hoping to see them very shortly.’
