Later in June, it was reported that Kelly and Brandon’s time quarantining in Montana had exacerbated the problems in their marriage.

‘Things had changed in their marriage and the split was a while coming. They both work so hard. It’s nearly impossible to enjoy each other, especially with the children needing constant attention,’ a source told People.

‘Kelly’s been through a lot, and she thought Brandon was her happily ever after. It’s very sad.’

A source for Us Weekly said that Kelly’s hectic work schedule with The Voice ‘changed things’ in her relationship with Brandon, who ‘prefers their quiet life in Nashville.’

Kelly shares daughter River Rose, six, and son Remington Alexander, four, with Brandon, and is stepmother to his kids Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13.

Kelly previously admitted their quarantine arrangement was an ’emotional rollercoaster’ in an interview with Glamour UK.

The Stronger singer admitted life had become ‘really hard’ while isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic as she had to attend ‘non-stop’ to all her children’s needs while still balancing all her work commitments, as well as recording a new album.

‘Honestly, I have been on an emotional roller coaster,’ she said in the interview seemingly conducted before she split from husband Brandon earlier this month. ‘This has been really hard as a working parent, because I’m still doing all the same jobs.’

‘It’s been exhausting honestly, cooking every meal and cleaning nonstop after toddlers and teenagers!’ she added.

‘Everybody’s learning from home now and the teaching! So, everything has been crazy.’

The singer admitted she’s had to remind those she works with about her family commitments because she doesn’t want to be an ‘absentee mom’ to her children.
