MasterChef fans threaten to boycott the show after new promo suggests ‘dessert king’ Reynold Poernomo will go home on Sunday after messing up a sponge cake

Things are set to heat up in the MasterChef kitchen on Sunday, and it’s not looking good for Reynold Poernomo.

Channel 10 released a new promo for this week’s elimination episode to social media on Wednesday, which sent fans into a frenzy- threatening to boycott the program if the ‘dessert king’ is sent home.

The ad shows the 26-year-old make a very big mistake and forget to make a sponge cake for his dessert during ‘classic cooking’ challenge.

On the chopping block? A new promo released by Channel 10 on Wednesday has sent MasterChef fans into a frenzy with many  threatening to boycott the program after it showed Reynold Poernomo (pictured) worried he will be sent home

‘Not going to lie, if Reynold goes home, I can’t watch it anymore,’ wrote one astounded fan.

Another added: ‘I will riot of he goes home’.

‘The whole world will riot if he goes home,’ responded another.

However, one eagle-eyed fan didn’t think this will be the last we see of the talented chef.

‘It’s not Reynold, don’t worry, he still hasn’t cooked all the desserts we saw in the promo for the top 10,’ he said.

The promo opens with Reynold facing off against his fellow contestants in a ‘classic cooking’ challenge.

Lacking confidence:  'I am not a classic cook at all,' Reynold said, after he and his fellow contestants were told they would be competing in a 'classic cooking' challenge.

‘I am not a classic cook at all,’ Reynold tells the camera with a worried look on his face.

The contestants are presented with a blackboard which lists several sweet and savoury dishes for them to choose from.

And unbelievably, it’s a mistake while putting together a sweet treat which puts the co-owner of award-winning Sydney dessert bar KOI at risk.

Judge Jock Zonfrillo is then seen at Reynolds’s workbench looking confused.

‘You haven’t mentioned the sponge?’ Jock asks.

Reynold responds: ‘Uh, the sponge…’

Panic: Normally cool and collected, Reynold is seen running around the kitchen, telling his competitors he is 'trying not to give up'

Looking up to the gallery, Reynold seeks help from Laura Sharrad who is safe from elimination after winning immunity on Tuesday night.

‘Do I need a sponge?’ he asks panicked, while she nods.

‘I’m trying not to give up… I’m so stressed right now,’ he tells the other competitors.
