Single radio host Sami Lukis, 50, reveals the ‘high-risk’ dating activity she’s terrified of after months of coronavirus lockdown

Single radio presenter Sami Lukis has been going on ‘digital dates’ during the coronavirus pandemic.

But with restrictions easing in Australia, the 50-year-old is now hesitant to explore her romantic connections physically.

In a blog post for 9Honey on Tuesday, she explained: ‘COVID-19 has taken all the fun out of making out, and now I’m terrified of my first post-pandemic pash.’

Sami, who tested positive for COVID-19 in late March, expressed concern about catching the virus again on a date.

‘I don’t want to contribute to any unnecessary COVID fear-mongering, but surely kissing is a high-risk exercise?’ she asked.

She feels uneasy about kissing a potential partner for the first time given how easily coronavirus is spread through close physical contact.

‘When I finally do get the courage to snog someone new, I really hope my first post-pandemic-pash will be memorable – for all the right reasons,’ she wrote.

The Australian Government had cautioned singles against physical contact with strangers during the height of lockdown.

In April, Sami revealed what it was like going on a ‘digital date’ during the pandemic.

The former Today show personality said she felt just as anxious before her Zoom date as she would before any ordinary first date.  

Following her first virtual date, however, she said it was ‘much more enjoyable’ than she had expected.

Sami said the pair chatted non-stop for an hour while she ‘downed’ two glasses of wine from the comfort of her living room.
