Big Brother producer reveals there will be a SHOCKING finale twist – and promises a ‘curve ball’ when the $250,000 cash prize winner is announced

Fans have waited more than five years for Big Brother to return to Australian screens.

Launching on Monday with a drastically new format, it appears Channel Seven’s version has many more surprises to come.

In an interview with TV Tonight, the show’s executive producer, Amelia Fisk, hinted at a major twist in the live finale.

The show has been filmed in advance, but the winner will be decided in a live finale set to air in late July.

‘The aim is to get $250,000. That’s the prize money. I’m not going to reveal anything more, but there might be a curve ball at the end of the series,’ Fisk said.

The twist may involve the finalists having to ‘split or steal’ the cash like in Love Island, or the winner may have their prize money deducted due to prior rule violations.

Frisk said the team had been inspired by the Canadian and U.S. Big Brother formats, which are pre-recorded an feature Survivor-style challenges.

Big Brother host Sonia Kruger previously said that rules viewers are most familiar with have been completely thrown out for the new season.

Speaking to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show last week, she explained several major changes made to the beloved reality TV show.

Public voting has been axed, she said, and housemates will now vote each other out.

'It's open slather!' Sonia said housemates are now allowed to talk about voting strategies and form eviction alliances, as one housemate is evicted EVERY night on the show by their rivals

In the past, housemates were banned from discussing evictions and voting, but Sonia said they are now encouraged to discuss game plans and strategic alliances – much like Survivor.

Sonia also confirmed there will be an eviction every night, and that the series will air three nights a week until late July.

‘Australia decides who will be the ultimate winner,’ she said, adding that there will be three housemates left in the live grand finale.

A few rules have been leaked ahead of the premiere, including that daytime naps are banned, housemates are only allowed to have hot showers during a one-hour period per day, and they must do all of their own cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Seven executives are hoping the rebooted series will be a ratings smash after spending millions on rights to the Big Brother name and format.
