‘We must have all seemed like man-eating alcoholics!’ Donna Air says being part of the infamous Primrose Hill set damaged her career

She’s a successful mother-of-one with an eclectic resume of acting roles and brand advisor accomplishments to her name.

But, Donna Air has said that being part of the infamous Primrose Hill set damaged her career, confessing: ‘We must have all seemed like man-eating alcoholics!’ referring to the North London house parties which she frequented with her celebrity pals, during the 90s and early Noughties.

The Newcastle-born beauty, 40, insisted she maintained a ‘relative distance from any trouble,’ but admitted her inclusion in the notorious party scene – which was somewhat synonymous with drink, drugs and bed-hopping – was detrimental to her being ‘taken seriously’ in the working world.

Misrepresented!? Donna Air, 40, has said that being part of the infamous Primrose Hill set damaged her career, confessing: ‘We must have all seemed like man-eating alcoholics!’

Models Kate Moss and Meg Mathews as well as actress Sadie Frost and heiress Davinia Taylor would join actors Jude Law and Ewan Mcgregor and the likes of Oasis rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher at their late night parties.

Donna told the The Sun that she would hang out with ‘some incredible superstar’ daily, recalling the moment she was at Meg Mathews’ with Ronnie Wood, and admitting she remembered thinking: ‘Wow, my life is amazing.’

But did she partake in any of the naughtiness which went on at the wild Primrose Hill parties?

‘No, no,’ insisted Donna, adding: ‘There was an element of misbehaving, but I’m quite good at staying a relative distance from any trouble.’

But the mother-of-one is adamant that, along with many famous women at that time, she was misrepresented – something which was difficult for her to overcome.

She said: ‘We must have all seemed like man-eating alcoholics. That takes a bit of time to shake off.

‘It does take longer to then get a serious acting role or walk into a business meeting and be taken seriously. You’ve got to prove that you’re not the person that is necessarily portrayed.’

In March, Donna admitted that she thinks today’s teenagers are too boring and healthy for words.

‘They’re all drinking turmeric shots and taking selfies. What sort of youth is that, drinking juice and doing yoga? And they’ve all gone vegan,’ ranted the former presenter.

Talking to pal Kate Thornton on the White Wine Question Time podcast, former Dancing On Ice star Donna adds: ‘Teenagers could take a leaf out of our book and see how it is done.’
