Seven to axe long-running series from network

Seven announces long-running series will be axed by network as the air date for its final episode is released

Channel Seven have made the decision to axe a program that has been on the network for 15 seasons. 

According to TV Blackbox, the network have ceased production of The Force: Behind The Line.

The Australian documentary television series has aired nationally on Seven since August 2006, but will come to an end this month.

The publication reported the final episode will air on Tuesday, May 19 from 8pm.

The Force predominately followed Western Australia and New South Wales Police officers as they protected and served their local communities.

It quickly became Seven’s ‘number one new show’ when it launched in 2006, and even led to a surge in people applying to become police officers.

The Force is only one of Seven’s longest remaining factual programs, as Border Security, which often teamed with The Force, still remains on air.

Seven is yet to make a decision on whether Highway Patrol and/or Motorbike Cops will continue filming in 2020.

Despite production being temporarily suspended during the coronavirus pandemic in March, there is news filming with reconvene in winter with careful social distancing on set.

Actress Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts, recently told a fan on Twitter: ‘There’s talk of June/July but only hearsay.’ 

The program launched in 1988, and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018.   

Home And Away airs Monday to Thursday on Seven from 7pm
