Indie was a cute sous-chef as she sat on the worktop eating blueberries before Joe cradled her.

Discussing his new weaning book, he said: ‘When I had Indie I had no idea how to feed her, I didn’t know where to go for that information, I found an amazing nutritionist called Charlotte.

‘She coached me on an amazing journey and gave me the confidence to wean Indie. It’s really gonna give you the confidence to enjoy cooking it doesn’t need to be stressful it can actually be quite fun.

‘The mission is to inspire families to cook food and get their children off to a healthy start, there’s a huge appetite for parents who need a bit of guidance.

‘I had a very bad start to my diet as a kid, my mum wasn’t educated on nutrition.’

Joe shares Indie and son Marley, five months with wife Rosie, 29, who recently took over his P.E classes as he recovered from a wrist injury.

Joe recently opened up about his life in lockdown during an appearance on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast.

On Indie’s eating habits, he said: ‘She’s not the sort of kid that would sit and eat a bowl of steamed greens.

‘I’ve learnt a new trick and that roast it, so if you roast like some kale with a little bit of olive oil and some paprika or you roast some cauliflower with some curry powder and cumin or anything with a bit of spice, they love it.’

‘Boiled veg aren’t tasty like even as an adult, we put them into curries or into our omelettes and we make it creative and we make it fun.

‘But yeah she’s an adventurous eater for one reason and one reason only, I’ve been a consistent chef and I’ve always challenged her and I’ve always pushed her to try new things.

‘I don’t crack if she rejects something, I don’t run and quickly grab her peanut butter on toast or a bowl of cereal, I say “look darling if you don’t want it or you’re not hungry now, lets go an play for an hour and we’ll come back”, and nine times out of ten, when she’d worked up her appetite, she will try the food and enjoy the food.

Talking about inspiring the nation with his online classes, he said: ‘I get so much enjoyment out of exercising so for me, if I wake up and feel a little bit flat and I do have days where I wake up and for no reason, I’ve got this little cloud over my head and I think “why am I feeling like that?”

‘Why aren’t I happy right now?’. And if I register that thought and feel like that, I just quickly go downstairs and do a bit of exercise – I know that it’s a method that works for me

‘Exercise is not optional, it’s a non-negotiable thing that I need in my life and I’ve always had it from such a young age’

‘I want to try and inspire people that do have kids and have businesses and they’re really ambitious that they can still be healthy. It doesn’t have to be one or the other – it doesn’t have to be really successful and ambitious but also unfit and out of shape, you can have both’

‘This moment in time now with the PE with Joe is what I feel like is my biggest achievement.

‘Getting people to cook is one thing, but getting people to get off their bottoms and exercise and have fun and engage in fitness is really tough, but you know I’ve had 50 million people doing my workouts in the past six weeks’.

Giving an update on his broken hand, the star said: ‘The hand’s good, I’ve got a dressing on. I had an infection.

‘To cut a long story short, I fell off my bike, I broke my hand and they put some wires in the hand. I’ve been doing all these PE with Joe workouts and it got infected.

‘So, it was basically like my hand was trying to explode. It was so much pressure, it was throbbing. So I was in hospital for two nights on codeine and morphine, high as a kite.

‘And now I’m home and I’m back, I’ve got the wife, I’ve recruited the wife as teaching assistant.’

Joe has spoken openly about his tough start in life, growing up on a council estate as his father battled with heroin addiction.

He said: ‘My mum was very young when she had me. She had my brother at 17 and me at 19. So she didn’t have a lot of education around food and nutrition and so it was a really manic upbringing.

‘My dad was a heroin addict, he was in and out of rehab all my life. I talk about this openly, my mum pretty much raised me and my brothers.

‘Dinner time was really mad, it was like shouting, swearing. It was picnics, or we’d have pasta, we didn’t eat together, there was no structure.

‘And so I’ve made a big effort now with my family to sit down and really connect with food. To sit down and enjoy the process of cooking together, because it was something I missed out on.

‘I had a really unhealthy diet, my mum used to go to Iceland, we were on benefits when I was a kid.

‘Just Wagon Wheels and Iced Gems and bread and peanut butter, always junk food.

‘And I definitely think that affected my behaviour. I had really bad attention issues and I was pretty naughty. Knowing what we do now, food has a massive impact on our energy and our behaviour.

‘My parents separated around 15 or20 years ago when I was a bit younger, I was a teenager when they separated’

‘I’m really close to my family and friends. We all get on well now, my dad is clean, he’s off the drugs, and he’s a great father. It was difficult when I was growing up but we’ve got a great relationship’

‘I don’t really look back with resentment, I just think that is what it was, I love you today and you’re good, you’re a great parent to me right now and that’s how I am really, I’m an optimist so I don’t really hold anything against people’
