The Block’s El’ise and Matt show off their nine-year-old daughter’s ‘magical’ newly renovated room

A Persian rug, vintage rocking horse and whimsical art: The Block’s El’ise and Matt show unveil their daughter Charlize’s renovated bedroom

The Block’s El’ise and Matt’s passion for renovation certainly hasn’t dwindled since their stint on the popular Nine show.

The Perth-based couple have been renovating their family home, starting with their nine-year-old daughter Charlize’s bedroom.

The room has undergone a complete transformation from a dull guest bedroom to a lavender wonderland, with the parents claiming the look was inspired by a doona cover purchased for their little girl.

Despite being almost unrecognisable from the neutral space it was before, they only made simple changes to the room.

They added a much-needed lick of paint, wall decals and hanging art on the walls.

‘[Charlize] is absolutely over the moon with it. She came in and she looked at me and said, “I am the luckiest girl in the world”,’ El’ise told 9Entertainment.

El’ise and Matt wanted to ensure the room would grow with Charlize as she entered her tween and teenage years, opting to add feminine details, and more mature accents to the room.

‘Instead of going a traditional pink, I wanted to bring out the purples in the flowers of the bedspread and brought in the lavender from there,’ El’ise explained.

While the parents weren’t opposed to heading to Kmart for accent pieces like throw pillows, they wanted the feature points of the room to be long-lasting.

The walls feature numerous whimsical art pieces, while the wooden floorboards are given a cosy touch with a gorgeous Persian-style rug.

‘I really feel that Charlize, she’s got that real old soul in her, so bringing in those elements, it really suits her personality,” Eli’se said.

The final result is nothing less than stunning, with light softly trickling into the room thanks to translucent drapes by the windows, floral wall decals and the adorable woodland animal themed doona cover that started it all.
