‘Everyone has personal battles’: MasterChef fans continue to speculate about contestant Ben Ungermann’s mysterious arrest which saw him booted from the hit cooking show

Almost two months after it was revealed Ben Ungermann was arrested, MasterChef fans are continuing to speculate about what prompted his run-in with the law.

The 33-year-old MasterChef Australia: Back To Win hopeful was booted from the current season of the hit cooking series following a mysterious arrest. 

‘Can any one [sic] tell us what Ben was arrested for??’ asked one viewer on a MasterChef Australia Facebook fan page.

Other fans weighed in on the person’s post, admitting the circumstances surrounding Ben’s arrest were still shrouded by mystery. 

‘They’ve never said, just that it was “personal reasons”,’ commented one fan, while another added: ‘What ever [sic] it is I hope he is ok.’ 

But others thought the popular MasterChef star should be left alone, and urged fans to ‘just enjoy the show’.

‘Does it matter? Everyone has personal battles,’ commented one person, while another wrote: ‘Not really anyone’s business what he was arrested for.’

Another fan added: ‘We all make mistakes at some stage. And. Agree not our business. He always seems like a nice boy.’   

It was revealed in late March that Ben had left the show halfway through production after he was arrested over ‘a personal matter’.

News of Ben’s arrest prompted a spokesperson for Endemol Shine, the production company behind MasterChef Australia, to issue a brief statement to the media.

‘We can confirm Ben Ungermann has left the MasterChef Australia competition. As this is a police matter, we will not be making further comment,’ they said. 

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to both MasterChef and Ben for comment.
