Back in business! The Block resumes filming at $15million Melbourne site with safety precautions for cast and crew after six week COVID-19 break
The Block has resumed production in Melbourne after a six week break.
Host Scot Cam joined this year’s contestants, the camera crew and all of the tradesman at the show’s new $15million site in Brighton on Monday.
Filming was halted in March amid the coronavirus pandemic, with production now introducing additional safety precautions to protect everybody on set.

As building is deemed essential work, production was allowed to resume this week.
In a bid to protect all workers and cast, executive producer Julian Cress has employed a nurse to conduct daily temperature checks on set.
All cast and crew involved in the show have also been required to have a flu shot.

Additionally, there are signs outside each room about practising social distancing, and limiting how many people are allowed in one space at any given time.
Contestants will also move to shopping online, and will be supplied tablets by producers for their online orders, as well as video conferencing.
Executive producer Julian Cress said on Monday: ‘The contestants’ renovations will now be compartmentalised to a large degree, and the comings and goings will be able to be carefully monitored by our staff and our building supervisors.’

For this year’s season of The Block, five rundown houses dating from the 1930s to 1960s were relocated to a $15million plot of land in Brighton.
Each team have been tasked with renovating one of the old properties, bringing it into the 21st century and making it luxury while maintaining its old charm.
It is unclear if the show will premiere in August like previous seasons, or if the six week filming break will result in the airdate being pushed back.
