Chewing the fat! Controversial chef Pete Evans enjoys an off-putting breakfast consisting of ‘three big slabs of pork fat’ left over from his roast dinner the night before

Pete Evans shared a photo of his ‘pork fat’ breakfast on Instagram on Thursday.

The 47-year-old controversial chef proudly boasted about his meal, which he made using leftovers from his dinner the night before.

‘Leftovers for breakfast. 3 big slabs of pork fat from last night’s pork roast with fried organic eggs in coconut oil, pickled homegrown turmeric and fermented chilli sauce with our heal red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil and Vietnamese mint from the garden and cracklings,’ he captioned the photo.

The artfully laid out meal attracted mixed reviews from his followers, with some praising his breakfast, while others criticised it.

‘So much saturated fat and cholesterol,’ commented one follower.

The day before, Pete shared a photo of his freshly cooked roast dinner, gushing over the meat’s ‘delicious fat’.

‘Look at that delicious fat. This is from our farm raised pigs. Served with veggies and a gremolata sauce with Kraut,’ he captioned the photo.

Pete is a vocal advocate of a high fat diet, and even wrote a cookbook titled, Low Carb, Healthy Fat.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia in October last year, he spoke about what he perceives to be healthy fats.

‘Fat from healthy animals, e.g., duck fat from free range ducks, tallow from grass fed and finished cows and lard from free range pigs, is what humans have always favoured and it is the source of amazing health giving fats that our bodies and brains thrive on,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘This in conjunction with avocado, coconut and olive oil and native Australian macadamia oils are wonderful to use in cooking.’

He claimed: ‘Steer well clear of vegetable oils and margarine as these are what contribute to heart disease, cancer and other chronic diseases.’
