Video shows boyfriend pranking his girlfriend by making her believe she won 50,000 euros

A boyfriend has gone viral after tricking his girlfriend into thinking she’d landed a windfall on a scratchcard.

Patrick Bermigham, from Carlow, Ireland, filmed his partner Amy Keegan – who he’s described as a frontline worker – scratched away at a fake card he had found on Amazon.

Thinking she had won €50,000, an ecstatic Amy started to celebrate as Patrick kept the camera rolling, he told The Irish Mirror.

But after a few moments of joy, the key worker started reading the fine print, which revealed the prank, provoking Patrick’s hilarity as Amy started to hit him in the sides.

The joke later went viral after Patrick shared it on his Facebook account.

In the video, the couple can be scratching one card each in Patrick’s car, while parked at a petrol station.

The boyfriend explained to the Mirror he’d bought a real card for himself at the station, and took out the fake one, which he had received from Amazon a couple of days earlier.

As Amy scratched away, her expression changed from neutral to excited as she realised she might have won ’50 grand.’

‘I think I won €50,000,’ she said, excitedly as Patrick gave a knowing look to the camera.

Amy started to celebrate, saying she had a ‘dream about the nits and that it’d bring good fortune’, adding she was about to faint.

But Amy face turned when she started to read the fine print on the card to see how she should claim her prize.

‘Claim forms should be completed in full and are exclusively available in your dreams… keep in a safe place so you always know where it is and remember the day you thought you won an absolute fortune,’ she read, before turning to Patrick in disbelief.
