Nine people have been injured after a bridge ripped the roof of a double decker bus in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Five people were rushed to hospital by paramedics, and one is understood to be treated for serious injuries following the crash at 2pm today.
The North West Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 2.11pm today to an incident on Station Road, Rochdale, with reports of a bus colliding with a bridge.’

Greater Manchester Police officers were at the scene along with firefighters and paramedics.
Diamond Bus has released the following statement following the crash: ‘Diamond Bus can confirm one of our vehicles operating service 471 between Bolton and Rochdale has been involved in an incident with a bridge, which has resulted in a number of passengers sustaining injuries.
‘We’ve immediately launched a full internal investigation to establish the circumstances that has led to this collision and are assisting Greater Manchester police with their enquiries.

Transport for Greater Manchester has tweeted to say Richard Street was closed earlier today following a bus accident near the junction with Lincoln Street.
‘Everyone at Diamond Bus North West is shocked by this incident and our thoughts are with the injured passengers. All injured parties have been taken to hospital but we have no updates as yet.’
