Osher Günsberg reveals the sad fate of The Bachelor 2020 season with Locklan ‘Locky’ Gilbert

Osher Günsberg reveals the sad fate of The Bachelor’s new season starring Locky Gilbert… five weeks after production was shut down due to coronavirus fears

Filming of the eighth season of The Bachelor Australia starring Locklan ‘Locky’ Gilbert was suspended in late March.

And the franchise’s longtime host, Osher Günsberg, has shared the news all fans have been dreading: the show is unlikely to resume filming anytime soon.

He said on the Shameless podcast on Thursday: ‘We are on hiatus. I don’t know what’s going to happen… and I don’t think they [the producers] do either.’

Despite taking ‘extra precautions’ during the coronavirus pandemic, Channel 10 and Warner Bros. decided to halt production with immediate effect last month.

The network came to the decision after considering all other available options, and said they planned to resume filming as soon as it was deemed safe.

When asked by the Shameless hosts what plans he had for 2020 before ‘everything went to s**t’, Osher revealed working on The Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons were top of his list, but they both looked uncertain now amid the pandemic.

‘Can I help Locky find love?’ he mused.

'At the end of the day, I couldn't give a s**t [about money]': Osher said while he loved his job, he wanted to ensure he, his family, the crew, and their family's, were all safe and healthy

‘At the end of the day, I couldn’t give a s**t [about money]’: Osher said while he loved his job, he wanted to ensure he, his family, the crew, and their family’s, were all safe and healthy

‘I want to keep working and make sure I can keep making money, but I also don’t want to risk my family’s health by coming to work every day,’ Osher said.

He said he also wanted the crew he’d worked with for the past eight years to be able to support their families financially, but not feel like they had to risk their family’s health to work on the daring franchise.

‘At the end of the day, I couldn’t give a s**t [about money]. I’d go live in a caravan. I’ll be able to make enough money again eventually,’ he said.

‘But I can’t buy my kids new lungs, and if one of them were to die, I can’t buy that. The economic argument goes out the window,’ Osher added.

Osher welcomed son Wolfgang ‘Wolfie’ in August with wife Audrey Griffen, and is also the step-father of Audrey’s daughter Georgia, 16.

The Bachelor host has been extremely vocal about alerting fans of the importance of social-distancing amid the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

The 2020 season of Bachelor In Paradise is the only show in the dating franchise that had already been filmed.

While it was due to air earlier this year, it was postponed amid the outbreak of COVID-19 and its extended news coverage on nightly programming.

It’s likely to return after MasterChef Australia finishes, but no official air date has been announced.
