Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew has spoken to The Australian Women’s Weekly about becoming a first-time mother during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 36-year-old journalist, who also posed with her baby daughter, Molly, for the magazine’s cover, she had found comfort in motherhood despite living in such ‘strange’ times.

‘I’ve found it really comforting that, when the world is chaotic outside, the day-to-day of being a mum doesn’t change,’ she said.

Edwina explained she found the first few weeks of motherhood ‘intense’ and ‘overwhelming’ before settling into her new role. 

‘Certainly I found the first few weeks completely intense and I was unprepared for it. I found the whole thing very overwhelming.’

Edwina said it was soon after realising she had a ‘happy, healthy and thriving’ child that her confidence started to grow.

Posing in the magazine, Edwina donned a number of stylish country looks while on her property ‘Warramba’, which is near Lithgow, in the NSW Blue Mountains.

In a number of stylish photographs the roving reporter channelled a country style, wearing a beige fedora, matching blazer and pants while posing with Neil and Molly. 

In a separate look, she opted for a longline tan blazer, jeans and riding boots, while sitting outside her sandstone farmhouse. 

The blonde beauty has spoken candidly about the difficulties of being a first-time mother, with commentators celebrating her raw honesty.

Taking to Instagram in January, Edwina shared an adorable snap alongside her baby girl and wrote: ‘One month old today. What a wild ride.’   

‘You are a delight, Molly Matilda. Sure, the full throttle crying is not so delightful but thankfully that’s pretty rare. You just get hangry like your Dad,’ she said.

She admitted: ‘The first 48 hours of motherhood were challenging in a way I wasn’t really prepared for. I was a total mess, actually.’
