‘Happy 94th Birthday to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,’ Olivia wrote.

‘A woman I greatly respect and admire and was fortunate enough to meet – a great honour for me.

‘I had hoped to meet her again this June for my investiture as Dame but it looks unlikely for now but, I am so grateful for this prestigious recognition.’

In December, Olivia was awarded damehood for her services to charity and entertainment.

‘I am extremely excited, honoured and grateful beyond words to be included with such an esteemed group of women who have received this distinguished award before me,’ she said at the time.

‘I am very proud of my British ancestry and so appreciative to be recognised in this way.’

The singer, who now lives in the U.S. but runs a cancer treatment centre in Melbourne, rose to international fame when she starred the 1978 musical Grease.

Last week, a Royal spokesman announced that the Queen – for the first time in her reign – was scaling down her birthday celebrations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Her Majesty’s birthday will not be marked in a special way – and calls, video calls, with family will be private and kept so. There will be no gun salutes.

‘Her Majesty was keen that no special measures were put in place as she did not feel it was appropriate in the current circumstances.’
