My Kitchen Rules’ Pete Evans sports a shaved head and scruffy beard

How’s self-isolation going? MKR judge Pete Evans looks unkempt after weeks in lockdown as he takes his daughters to the beach in Sydney

After spending weeks in self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pete Evans looks like a new man.

The My Kitchen Rules judge, 47, left fans stunned as he unveiled his new look on Monday, posting an Instagram photo of himself and daughters Chilli, 14, and Indii, 13, at the beach in Malabar, Sydney.

Looking worlds away from his well-groomed on-screen persona, Pete sported a shaved head and a scruffy, salt-and-pepper beard.

‘Always fun times,’ wrote the paleo diet advocate in the caption.

The trio appeared to have spent the day surfing, as indicated by Chilli and Indii’s black wetsuits and damp-looking hair.

Pete and his daughters are currently self-isolating at his home in Malabar, while also regularly visiting the $1.2million farm in northern NSW he shares with wife Nicola Robinson.

It comes after Pete stirred controversy after bizarrely claiming that his $15,000 lamps could treat the ‘Wuhan virus’ with ‘recipes’ made from light.

Earlier this month, Pete shared a post to Instagram promoting the BioCharger NG Subtle Energy Platform, which is described as a ‘hybrid subtle energy revitalisation platform’.

‘Four transmitted energies stimulate and invigorate the entire body to optimise and improve potential health, wellness, and athletic performance,’ he said.

‘It works to optimize your health, wellness, and athletic performance by aligning and balancing the energy of every cell in your body.’

The My Kitchen Rules star said he and his family use the ‘non-invasive’ lamp ‘pretty much every day’.

He went on to say that the lamp is programmed with thousands of recipes with ‘a couple on there for Wuhan coronavairus that you may be interested in’. There is no evidence it has any effect on the virus.

The Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) has since announced it would investigate the device and how it has been promoted online.

The TGA also issued a warning about advertising relating to COVID-19, which reminds consumers that, in Australia, the advertising of therapeutic goods is regulated by the TGA.

The Australian Medical Association also publicly criticised Evans for spruiking the machine.

‘This guy just doesn’t get it. Pete Evans is trying to sell a $15,000 fancy light machine to vulnerable and frightened people to protect them against COVID-19,’ the AMA said on Twitter.

‘He is not a doctor. He is not a scientist. He is a chef.’
