Ellie Goulding has admitted she doesn’t have the confidence to post videos of herself singing on social media as she is self-conscious about her voice and looks.
The singer, 33, recently found the courage to join several stars to perform in the Global Citizen One World: Together at Home live concert on Saturday night.
But the performance was the exception rather than the rule for Ellie who admitted she thought she had a ‘big nose’ and ‘weird’ hair.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: ‘I have a really unusual voice so you either love it or hate it. I think I need to get to a point where I’m comfortable posting videos singing – but I overthink it.
‘I thought I had a big nose and my hair was really weird or that I didn’t have a great figure.
‘That’s why talking and being frank and open about it is really important because every single one of us – even my husband – has our own insecurities.’
Ellie added that it is her husband Caspar Jopling, who she married in August 2019, who helps to keep her grounded.

The hitmaker added that she is loving married life and would definitely ‘recommend’ it to others, saying she feels like their wedding day was ‘so long ago’.
Caspar is currently studying for a Master’s in Business Administration at Oxford, with Ellie revealing he has been studying hard during lockdown.
Ellie admitted she ‘felt different to everyone else’ as a kid as she grew up in a council estate and had ‘middle-class friends’ at school who she didn’t let come to her house.
Other half: Ellie added that she is loving married life to Caspar Jopling and would definitely ‘recommend’ it to others, saying she feels like their wedding day was ‘so long ago’.
The singer, who described herself as an angsty teenager, added that her step-father was not very nice to her and her siblings, saying he ‘just wasn’t interested’.
Ellie is now looking forward to the release of her new album in June and said her favourite song on the record, New Heights, is about learning to embrace who you are.
It comes after Ellie admitted she was finding the concept of performing to the online audience ‘quite hard’ before delivered an acoustic rendition of some of her biggest hits.
The Anything Can Happen singer joined a slew of British stars performing in the worldwide pre-show and the following televised concert, including David Beckham, Rita Ora and Liam Payne.
Performing from her home, she said: ‘I think it’s amazing that we’re all staying home keeping ourselves safe, keeping others safe.’

‘And amazing that we all get to be in something together, terrible as it is,’ she added, before praising the feeling of widespread solidarity amid the crisis.
Playing her guitar, the star put on an emotional performance her 2015 pop hit Love Me Like You Do while sitting in her home.
Later Ellie then re-appeared on-screen, where she spoke about the anxiety she’d been struggling with during the pandemic.
She said: ‘ I know music has saved me, I mean it really saved me in my life but saved me recently having to be indoors and if you’re like me you love exploring, love to walk, but because we’re all staying into together this will be over soon hopefully we can catch the last of the summer.
‘But this has proved that humans can be awesome and the fact that everyone has come together and shown such incredible kindness towards each other, and just following on social media just making each other laugh and making videos and making memes, it’s the stuff that keeps us going and laughing.
‘Watching funny stuff has helped me through this time, I can get quite anxious, actually I’m finding it really hard. Music has really helped , I’ve been listening to a lot of old music from the 40s and 50s.’
