She’s one of the returning fan favourites competing for a chance to win $250,000 on MasterChef: Back to Basics. 

But Sarah Clare, 33, appeared to struggle filleting a Murray cod during an intense challenge on Thursday night’s episode. 

And fans were quick to point it out on social media, with one viewer writing: ‘I’m not a vegan but my heart is breaking at the butchering Sarah’s fish is copping’.

‘Has Sarah finished amputating that fish yet?’ another asked. 

A third chipped in: ‘Me, a person who does not eat fish and has never had to cut one up before, thinking what are you doing Sarah, Christ’.

‘Spoiler alert: Sarah makes a complete dish and judges are stunned,’ added another.

In a piece to camera, fellow chef Dani Venn voiced her concerns, saying she was ‘worried’ about the possibility of bones being left behind in Sarah’s fish.

‘I know how to filet a fish, what I am doing?’ Sarah was heard saying as her stress turned into panic in the challenge.

‘I know I’ve only got one filet, but I’m butchering this fish,’ she continued.

Sarah rose to fame after appearing on season 10 of MasterChef.

She then returned to her Tasmanian roots, where she lives with her son Elvis. 

After working in the kitchen at Fat Pig Farm, Sarah launched a series of pop-ups called Wild. She now runs her own restaurant called ILHA in her hometown.
