Susanna Reid reveals she’s tempted to shave her HEAD in lockdown

Susanna Reid admitted she was tempted to shave her head in lockdown during Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain.

The presenter, 49,  revealed she was tempted to follow the growing trend exhibited on social media and completely remove her flowing brunette locks, which got the thumbs up from co-host Piers Morgan, 55.

She said: ‘A lot of people are shaving off all of their hair. I’m tempted to do that because frankly it’s a pain keeping up the barnet.

Piers replied: ‘You as GI Jane…I would travel continents, if I was able to, to see you as GI Jane.’

‘I think you’d look hot bald’ which an unimpressed Susanna quickly changed the subject.

Susanna revealed she got the idea after watching Piers get his hair cut by wife Celia Walden, which was documented in an Instagram snap.

Piers said: ‘I reached genuinely the apocalypse last night where I had to ask my wife to cut my hair.’

‘You can see from my face the tension mounted when she said ‘oops’. She said please relax, I’ve watched a YouTube video.’

‘Which is probably the least most self-confident thing I’ve ever heard.’

Susanna asked Piers if the rumours were true that Celia had shaved her initials into the back of Piers’ head, to which he responded: ‘That’s not the case. It was disconcerting.

‘That’s what we’ve got to do. Everyone has to muddle on.’

Last week Susanna insisted she did not have coronavirus after sparking concerns with a persistent cough.

The presenter had to clear her throat several times during an interview with some of the nation’s key workers, but explained that the cough simply stemmed from an apple she had earlier that morning.

It comes after her GMB co-host Piers Morgan also denied he was suffering from COVID-19 by responding to a concerned fan on Twitter.

During the show, Susanna and Ben Shephard were chatting to key workers who were keeping the country running during the coronavirus lockdown.

But as Susanna introduced her guests she appeared to trip over her words and started to cough and splutter.

Apologising to viewers, she said: ‘Sorry, I feel like I have to explain my rogue cough.’

Susanna then clarified she’d had an apple earlier that morning and some of it had been stuck in her throat, and she continued the rest of the show with ease.

Piers also sparked concerns when he coughed through the first 10 minutes of the show, but later took to Twitter to clarify the issue.

A fan tweeted: ‘I’m watching you from Paris this morning. Are you feeling well, you’ve been coughing a bit this morning! Stay safe and keep yourself protected. Love GMB.’

Piers then responded to comments by saying: ‘All good thanks Elizabeth, just clearing my throat after a fairly sleepless night.’

Both Piers and Susanna have continued to host GMB during the coronavirus pandemic, and have been adhering to social distancing measures.

The country has been placed in lockdown during the pandemic, but the presenters have been classed as ‘key workers’ as they continue to provide key information about the outbreak.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
