Hollywood actor Danny Goldman has died at the age of 80.

The star, who was best known for voicing the character Brainy Smurf in The Smurfs, passed away with friends and family nearby on Sunday, according to TMZ.

 His death is not related to COVID-19 which has taken over 20,000 lives in the US.

The actor was in hospice after suffering two strokes around New Year’s Eve, according to the site that talked to his agent, Doug Ely.

And the agent also shared a tribute on Facebook.

‘Danny was truly one of a kind. He always had strong opinions and didn’t mind telling you about them. He was incredibly funny. He loved to root for the little guy and help wherever he could. He had a huge heart. We lost a good one today. He will be missed.’

Danny started acting in the 1960s after graduating from Columbia University in New York.

In 1963 he landed a role on General Hospital. He also has been on several TV shows such as MASH (1970).

He also landed the role of Nick Dutton on the sitcom The Good Life in 1971. 

Goldman became a fixture on his TV shows as he popped up on That Girl with Marlo Thomas, The Partridge Family with Susan Dey, and Columbo with Peter Falk. 

In 1974, he starred as a young medical student with many questions in Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder. 

He became a regular on Busting Loose in 1977.

In the 1980s he appeared in several films such as Wholly Moses! (1980), Where the Buffalo Roam (1980) and My Man Adam (1985).
