Girl, 16, dies after plunging from the balcony of an eighth-floor flat in southeast London

A 16-year-old girl has died after falling from an eighth-floor balcony in southeast London earlier, the Met Police confirmed today. 

Officers were called to Thurston Road, in Lewisham, shortly after 2pm on Easter Sunday following reports that a person had fallen from a height. 

London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance, who landed in a nearby Sports Direct car park, attended.

The girl, whose next of kin have been informed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is being treated as non-suspicious, and a police cordon remains at the scene while inquiries continue. 

A Met Police spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Police were called at 14:12hrs on Sunday, 12 April to reports of a woman fallen from height at Thurston Road.

‘Officers, London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance [HEMS] attended.

‘At the scene a 16-year-old girl had fallen from the balcony of a residential property. 

‘The injured girl was pronounced dead at the scene at 15:26hrs. The death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.’
