Ben Affleck to face off in a ‘friendly poker tournament’ with A-list stars including Tom Brady and Matt Damon to raise money for Feeding America

Celebrities and business moguls the world-over have been stepping up to donate millions to various charities providing coronavirus relief to those in need.

Ben Affleck took to Instagram to share some news about how he and a collection of fellow A-listers are getting together to raise money for Feeding America, in a new post on Friday.

This weekend, the Oscar winner will face off in a friendly poker tournament on Twitch with celebrity pals like Tom Brady and Matt Damon, with proceeds going to the charity.

‘Excited to announce that I have joined forces with @FeedingAmerica, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, to raise money for folks who need it most,’ Ben penned in an Instagram caption. 

‘Join me and some familiar faces (including @tombrady, @bryancranston, @adamlevine, @sarahkatesilverman , @_cherylhines, Tobey Maguire, Jon Hamm & Jason Bateman) as we face off in a friendly poker tournament,’ he continued.

The tournament will be digital, as all the participants are still respecting social distancing guidelines and it will take place on the platform Twitch at 11am pacific time on Saturday.  

Ben said: ‘We’ve already raised over $1 million, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Feeding America.’

Wow! Deadline reported that the game will be Texas hold ’em it’s open to 75 people but ‘even observers will get to interact with some high-level card players with Hollywood pedigree’ like Matt Damon who will be one of the players

The star added that at this current moment in time, in the face of the global coronavirus pandemic, the work that Feeding America does could not be more crucial.

Hollywood has been stepping up to the plate in a big way in order to help the millions of American’s struggling with surviving COVID-19 and the subsequent sky-rocketing unemployment that has resulted.

Celebrity chef Rachael Ray announced she is donating $4 million to help feed the hungry through her two charities.

The 51-year-old talk show host announced that the donations will be made through her Rachael Ray Foundation and The Yum-O! Organization, with $2 million from each charity ‘directed to help fund critically needed food programs and support services for two-legged and four-legged family members alike.’

And, on Thursday actress Sandra Bullock did what she could to help healthcare workers in Los Angeles stay safe, donating 6,000 N95 masks.

The 55-year-old actress’ boyfriend Bryan Randall shared a photo of the masks they donated to Adventist White Memorial and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, George and Amal Clooney donated more than a million dollars to COVID relief and Lady Gaga was instrumental in raising a whopping $35 million.
