The Walking Dead teases return of Lauren Cohan as series favorite Maggie after wrapping season early

The Walking Dead favorite Maggie Greene is back for the AMC hit’s season 10 season finale.

Though the episode wasn’t originally planned to be the season’s end, things will wrap by revisiting actress Lauren Cohan’s character in the wake of production being suspended due to coronavirus.

This will be the first time since that British-American starlet, 38, has appeared on The Walking Dead sing she left the show in season nine.

Back in action: The Walking Dead favorite Maggie Greene is back for the AMC hit’s season 10 season finale

The sneak peak for the season finale only features a sliver of Cohan’s character, who is seen finding a note telling how her friends have been slaughtered by a blood-thirsty group called The Whisperers, prompting her to take action.

Cohan departed from the series in 2018 to star in NBC’s Whiskey Cavalier with Scott Foley, but the show only lasted one season.

It was already announced that she’d be back as a main character for season 11.

Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group & AMC Studio, talked about how thrilled she was for Maggie’s return at the time, telling outlets: ‘The Walking Dead burst out of the gate ten years ago as a genre show that had all the character depth of a top-tier prestige drama.’

‘And now ten years later—led by the brilliant Angela Kang and fueled by one of the most consistently talented casts in television—this phenomenon is flourishing creatively, with critics and audiences embracing its reset.

‘We’re delighted to welcome back Lauren Cohan, she has meant so much to this show and its passionate, global fanbase, who are in for a fantastic ride over the coming months.’

But it will be a second before the show comes back on the air.

AMC announced late last month (via The Walking Dead Twitter) that the season finale, originally scheduled to air on Sunday, April 12, has been delayed indefinitely.

While no replacement air date was given, it was revealed that the episode will air sometime later in the year as a ‘special episode.’

‘Current events have unfortunately made it impossible to complete post-production of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale, so the current season will end with its 15th episode on April 5,’ the statement began.

‘The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year,’ they added.

The network also added that the first eight episodes of The Walking Dead Season 10, ‘will be available for free on AMC.com and the AMC app, immediately following the last Season 10 episode on Sunday, April 5 through Friday, May 1.’

AMC had previously pushed the premiere of its new Walking Dead series entitled The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which was also slated to premiere on April 12.

That premiere will also happen later this year, but the network hasn’t offered a specific date when it will air now.

The news comes just days after the 13th episode of Season 10, What We Become, the final episode for Danai Gurira’s Michonne, which brought back some familiar faces in surprise cameo performances.

The episode followed Michonne being imprisoned and drugged on a remote island by a stranger named Virgil (Kevin Carroll), which lead to hallucinations where she saw her former lover Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

She also saw some of her long-gone friends like Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Heath (Corey Hawkins).

Gurira’s Michonne had been a fixture of the hit zombie series since Season 3, though the door remains open for her to possibly return in the future.

There are just two more episodes left of The Walking Dead’s 10th season, Look at the Flowers on Sunday, March 29 and The Tower on April 5.

Look at the Flowers is set in the aftermath of the Hilltop fire, as Eugene takes a group on a journey to meet Stephanie in hopes of finding more survivors.

The Tower follows all of the survivor communities as they brace for the final war with The Whisperers, while Eugene’s group finds Princess.
