Max Greenfield from New Girl home schools his daughter Lilly and the results are utterly priceless

Parents everywhere have quickly learned just how tough it is for schoolteachers, as they embark on homeschooling their children amid the coronavirus lockdown.

One person having a particularly wild time with the experience is New Girl’s Max Greenfield, who has been delighting fans by documenting his efforts to educate his rather unruly daughter Lilly on Instagram.

Getting off to a good start, Greenfield, 39, posted a smiley photo in the middle of March at a desk with his 11-year-old, captioned ‘#HomeSchooling #ProfessorGreenfield God Help Us All’ along with a string of prayer hand emojis.

Perhaps that was prophetic, as in subsequent posts ‘the vibe in the classroom ha[d] deteriorated,’ as he captioned a video from ten days later which showed Lilly clapping back at her father while she was typing.

Greenfield, who shares Lilly as well as four-year-old son Ozzie James with his casting director wife Tess Sanchez, sat behind his daughter looking bored and impatient in the clip.

‘How long does it take one person to type Massachusetts?’ he wondered allowed.

To which Lilly retorted, ‘Hey dad, I need your s*** like I need a whole in the head!’

Doing his best: Greenfield, who shares Lilly as well as four-year-old son Ozzie James with his wife Tess Sanchez, has shared a plethora of images and clips of the experience

Other posts have resulted in similarly sidesplitting exchanges, like when the pair start to idly sing a new Dua Lipa song while working and Lilly shuts her father down because he has ‘a dogs*** voice,’ or when she scolds him, ‘I bet you’re rethinking your own school experience, all the time you spent puff-puff-puff and glug-glug-glug!’

Lilly doesn’t always have the rule of the roost though, like when Max catches the rambunctious tween practicing her TikTok dance moves while she should be paying attention.

For that clip, Max recognized the monumental efforts of real school instructors in the caption, writing ‘God bless the teachers (the real ones)’.

Perhaps the most amusing passage on Max and Lilly’s homeschooling journey comes when he attempted to read her a story assigned by her schoolteacher, with the frustrated home-locked actor giving it his all.

Despite his bombastic delivery, at the end of the clip Lilly is seen on her phone and not at all invested in what her father is doing.

Later, Max posted a screenshot of Lilly’s private message to her teachers in which she doubts her father’s capabilities.

‘My daughter sent this message to her teachers today!’ Greenfield captioned the post. ‘Just in case you were wondering what bottom looks like. #homeschool’

Best of all, though, comes one morning at ‘school’ when Max confesses to Lilly that he was up late watching Tiger King the night prior, to which Lilly asks, ‘Is that like The Lion King?’

In the next post, Max recounts a hilarious and VERY sanitized synopsis of the bonkers Netflix docuseries to his daughter before she goes to bed, captioning it ‘How to talk to your kids about Tiger King’.

The clips have been quite popular with Greenfield’s 967 thousand followers, garnering recognition and comments from famous friends like Leslie Jordan, his New Girl costar Lamorne Morris, Cedric the Entertainer, Olivia Munn and many more.
