‘I’m really gutted’: Singer Louis Tomlinson announces he’s been forced to reschedule his upcoming Australian tour amid the coronavirus pandemic

Louis Tomlinson has been forced to postpone his upcoming Australian tour in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a post on Instagram on Thursday, the 28-year-old singer announced he was ‘gutted’ at being forced to delay his shows.

‘Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all of my tour dates for April & May 2020 are being rescheduled,’ he wrote.

‘I’m really gutted but of course the health and safety of all of my fans and tour crew needs to come first. I’ll be announcing the new dates very soon. Stay safe, Louis x’.

The former One Direction star was due to tour his debut solo album, Walls, in Australia and New Zealand later this month.

He was set to perform in Auckland on April 23, before making his way to Australia, with concerts scheduled for April 25 in Sydney and April 27 in Melbourne.

In an interview with Pedestrian TV back in December, Louis said he was ‘proper excited’ to be returning to Australia after previously touring the country with One Direction.

‘The gigs are always incredible and also, for any Brit, it’s the ultimate dream to travel to Australia,’ he said at the time.

‘It’s not going to be a massive production with any gimmicks, it’s just going to be pretty straightforward. Just a good live show focusing on music and hopefully we’ll have a good night.’

Arguably one of the biggest boybands of all time, One Direction announced they were taking an indefinite hiatus at the end of 2015, but Louis has nothing but ‘love’ for his time in the band.

‘I f**king love the boys, and I love everything we’ve done together. And I still miss my time with them,’ he told Rolling Stone in January of bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik.

‘I think any of the boys would be lying if they said otherwise. It was a special time in our lives, definitely.’
