Soap opera star Greg Rikaart revealed on social media on Monday that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 43-year-old actor posted an updated on his health condition as he remained in self-isolation from his husband Robert Sudduth and their three-year-old son Montgomery.

‘I just tested positive for coronavirus. I am a pretty healthy 43-year-old who doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink much, eats well and exercises regularly and this has been the hardest experience of my life, Greg posted for his roughly 70,000 followers.

‘Two+ weeks ago, everyone in my house had a bit of a cough and my son came home from school with a high fever. Everyone recovered, but I deteriorated. I isolated from my family and have been in solo quarantine since Saturday the 14th,’ he added.

‘I had a fever for 11 days, difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I’m confident that I have finally turned the proverbial corner and am fever free today for the first time since this all started. I was told to stay isolated for another 72 hours before I acclimate back into my family. So, nice try coronavirus, but I have another 4-5 decades worth of experiences to have with these guys. Furthermore, I want to thank you all for the well wishes and I hope you heed the warnings. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay inside,’ Greg concluded.

The New York City native has been playing Kevin Fisher on The Young And The Restless since 2003.

He has been nominated six times for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series and won the award in 2005.

Greg took to Instagram last Tuesday revealing that he had a ‘100.5 fever, tightness in my chest and a wet cough complete with some green phlegm’.

His doctor diagnosed him as suffering from seasonal allergies, but his symptoms continued even after three days of antibiotics.

Greg said three offices refused to see him because he did not meet Centers For Disease Control thresholds for coronavirus  testing.

‘The good news is that the tightness and fever have reduced today somewhat BUT since my symptoms started I’ve not only been isolated from the world, but isolated from my son and my husband. I found a doctor who makes house calls to come over today. I’m hoping I get diagnosed with the flu so I can relieve my SUPER DAD of a husband from three days of zero relief.

‘Such a colossal failure by our federal government that this is where we are. I realize that I’m in a fortunate position to find a house call doctor but basic healthcare should absolutely not be a luxury. Fingers crossed that I have the flu! Not something you hear everyday, huh?,’ he finished his post.

Greg and Robert got married in Hawaii in May 2015 and welcomed Montgomery in June 2016 via surrogacy.
