Los Angeles billboard star Angelyne chats with a grocery store clerk after getting groceries delivered curbside to her iconic pink Corvette

She’s been a seemingly ageless constant in an ever-changing Los Angeles.

But even Angelyne had to evolve with the times as she had groceries delivered to her iconic pink Corvette on Saturday in LA’s Los Feliz neighborhood.

The 69-year-old model showed off her irrepressible personality as she chatted up a grocery store clerk.

Angelyne rocked her preferred color with a fuzzy hot pink jacket over a blue patterned dress, which she paired with short brown boots and a black and pink scarf tied around her throat.

Her recognizable platinum blonde locks fluttered messily in the breeze, and she blocked out the sun with her sleek black sunglasses.

The occasional singer stopped inside the store to pay, but an employee carried out her lone bag for her.

Angelyne became a sensation after 1984, when she began buying up billboard space throughout LA featuring illustrations and photos of herself in suggestive poses.

She released two albums of new wave–inspired music throughout the ‘80s, though most of her billboards, which sometimes numbered more than 200, didn’t seem to advertise anything at all.

The semi-anonymous celebrity could be seen around the city driving in her unmissable pink Corvette, but little was known about her until a 2017 exposé in The Hollywood Reporter.

Transformation: Angelyne adopted her look in the mid-’70s and became famous for being famous in the mid-’80s after being up billboards across LA featuring her in seductive poses

Using public records and interviews with old friends, Gary Baum revealed that Angelyne was born in Poland in 1950 as Ronia Goldberg.

Her parents, Polish Holocaust survivors who endured unimaginable horrors in multiple concentration camps, moved to Israel shortly after her birth, before migrating to the United States in 1959.

By the mid-1970s, Angelyne traded out her red hair for blonde locks and a pink wardrobe, and she’s admitted to multiple cosmetic surgeries over the years, though she wouldn’t become famous for being famous for nearly a decade more.

Most recently, Shameless star Emmy Rossum has been filming a limited series about Angelyne’s life for NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming network Peacock.

The series, created by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, who’s also her husband, is based on the Hollywood Reporter article and features the actress in striking makeup and costumes to mimic Angelyne’s unmistakable look.

She’s also had to wear fake cleavage and old-age prosthetics to match the billboard star’s current visage.

Rossum announced in February that Angelyne had signed on to the miniseries as an executive producer.

The show was first announced in 2017, though it’s unclear when it will premiere, especially with the coronavirus delaying production in Los Angeles.
