MAFS fans slam experts for allowing Connie Crayden and Jonethen Musulin to stay

‘Are you serious?’ Married At First Sight’s relationship experts are accused of professional ‘negligence’ for allowing Connie and Jonethen to stay in the experiment

Married At First Sight’s Jonethen Musulin was forced to stay in the experiment for another week after Connie Crayden voted to stay at Wednesday’s commitment ceremony.

It was the third week in a row he’d tried to quit the show, but his wife’s ‘last minute decision’ to stay for personal reasons has locked him down.

Fans have since slammed the episode on Twitter, accusing relationship experts John Atkins, Trisha Stratford and Mel Schilling of professional ‘negligence’ for allowing them to continue with the show.

Viewers pointed out that Jonethen was effectively being held against his will while Connie was visibly distressed by the whole process.

One fan tweeted: ‘I find the experts’ attempts to legitimise Connie and Jonethen’s relationship hilariously forced. They don’t belong together. It’s obvious to everyone.’

‘Experts need to do their job and send Connie home, it’s not good for either of them,’ another person wrote.

A third viewer tweeted: ‘Negligence if the producers and experts let Connie and Jonny continue to this last week.’

A similar comment read: ‘It’s really hard watching Connie on MAFS. She’s clearly having a panic attack.

Another viewer wrote: ‘My heart break for Connie. This isn’t fair. She’s had to sit through this every week. Experts should have pulled them both out.’

One person said the scene was ‘easily the most horrific and painful thing’ they’d ever watched on television.

Earlier this season, John Aiken forced Hayley Vernon off the show along with ‘groom’ David Cannon, 31, after she voted to ‘stay’.

Hayley, 32, insisted she wanted to leave her ‘groom’ to ‘suck eggs’ for a week and think over what he had done as punishment.

However, expert John shut it all down, forcing both contestants off the show, while insisting: ‘There are certain standards that we must adhere to.’

John told the pair: ‘We’re going to send you back to the group and you both will leave the experiment – regardless of the decision you’ve written down.’

‘This is a decision that we don’t take lightly, but we’re doing it because it is in your best interests, and this relationship is beyond repair.’

He also called what Hayley had planned, as well as the relationship between the pair, ‘unhealthy’ and ‘toxic’.
