Pia Miller was forced to defend herself this week after being slammed by a fan for sharing a sponsored Instagram post during the current coronavirus pandemic.
After posting a selfie to promote Pantene hair care on Thursday, one furious fan commented: ‘People are dying but Pia’s hair looks nice – get real!’
Quick to hit back, Pia, 36, explained that she was using her large platform on social media to support businesses amid the current economic downturn.

‘I am well aware of our heartbreaking and catastrophic global situation, it has been on my heart and mind every minute of every day,’ she responded.
‘Thank you for pointing that out. Businesses are also closing, people are losing jobs and our economy is rapidly declining,’ Pia continued.
‘I am fortunate to have the opportunity on this platform today to support the businesses that I believe in and work alongside during this difficult time.’

Pia’s fans were quick to defend her, with one writing: ‘Queen. Handled that in the most classy and factual way.’

Pia, who is best known for starring on Home and Away from 2015-2018, currently boasts 740,000 followers on Instagram.

Compared to many other celebrities with large social media followings, she only shares sponsored content occasionally, preferring to use the platform to post photos of her life and family instead.
