The former Coronation Street star, 43, will host an episode of the popular chat show alongside Alex Jones when she will replace Matt Baker.

The actress spoke about joining the show in her OK! magazine column where she also revealed she will be replacing Louise Redknapp in 9 to 5: The Musical this year.

She said: ‘I have two big announcements for you all! I can exclusively reveal that I’m joining the cast of 9 To 5 The Musical later this year, in the role played by Louise Redknapp – Violet Newstead.

‘I went to see Amber Davies in it last year and absolutely loved the show – it’s got a great energy and is all about empowering women, which is a really important message to send out.

‘I’m also co-hosting The One Show with Alex Jones on 20 March. I’ve always enjoyed doing live TV – let’s hope I don’t make a mistake.’

Matt confirmed he would be exiting The One Show in an emotional message in December, saying the programme had been a huge part of his life.

He said: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to say that, at this time of year, I like to stop, take stock, reflect.

‘The One Show has been a massive part of my life for almost a decade now and I have loved every second of being a part of it but I am going to be leaving this green sofa in the Spring.

‘It’s time to give somebody else the opportunity to see how big-hearted and generous you, our One Show viewers, really are.’

It comes after Kym recently revealed she has been told she is ‘heading towards perimenopause’.

The soap star explained that she has been struggling to sleep due to night sweats so went to see her doctor to get to the root of the issue.

After having a series of tests, Kym was told that she is entering the pre-stages of the menopause – which is the time in a woman’s life when menstrual periods stop permanently, and they are no longer able to conceive children.

However, the perimenopause happens several years before the menopause as oestrogen levels start to drop.

It’s estimated that there are around 13 million women who are currently peri or menopausal in the UK.

She shared in her weekly OK! Magazine column: ‘This week’s been a hard one for me because I’ve been really struggling to sleep.

‘I’ve had tests, and been told I’m heading towards perimenopause – which isn’t easy to hear. It’s causing me to wake up at night in hot sweats, but I am 44 so it’s not a strange thing to happen.’

Kym, who has three children and one grandchild, added that is trying a variety of things to help her get her slumber but nothing has worked so far to ease her symptoms.

‘I’ve invested in a sleep candle, pillow mist and sleep tea, so I’m trying everything to stay asleep! Nothing seems to have helped yet, but fingers crossed I’ll find the best remedy for me.’

Kym’s sleep woes are not helped by her eight-year-old daughter Polly who is ‘not a great sleeper’, something which began when she was a baby, and wakes up at least once a night.

The soap star became a grandmother to her 22-year-old daughter Emilie Cunliffe’s son Teddy in May.

The soap actress joined her daughter in the delivery room and served as her birthing partner, which they previously revealed was always going to be the case because they ‘do everything together’.
