They recently enjoyed a getaway to Paris in defiance of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

But Sam Smith’s problems rumbled on as they decided to step up security measures at their £12million mansion in North London following two burglaries at a former property.

The 27-year-old singer has applied for permission to install new CCTV cameras, motion sensors and entry system monitors at the five-bedroom, Grade II listed home.

Sam is thought to have requested the security upgrade after their former property in south London was targeted by burglars twice in 2014.

A source told the Sun: ‘Security will be a priority for anyone who’s had their house broken into once, let alone twice, and Sam is no exception.

‘The attitude is if more money is needed to make this new home feel safe and comfortable, so be it.’

Sam Smith’s representative has been contacted for comment.

The home improvements come after the Stay With Me star recently enjoyed a getaway to Paris despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

They shared a glimpse at their trip to the French capital via Instagram on Tuesday, where they joined tour designer Jason Sherwood and manager Max Gerrans.

Gushing about the trip and sharing a video of the Eiffel Tower as it sparkled and lit up at night, and wrote in the caption: ‘City of love darling.’

It is likely that Sam’s trip was all about work as Jason has worked with them on a number of their world tours, creating the stage and lighting design.

Jason, who also worked on the sets of the Spice Girls World Tour and this year’s Academy Awards stage, teased a potential new project as he wrote in the caption of his snaps: ‘And we’re back.’

There are currently more than 1,372 confirmed cases in the UK and 35 people have died with more infections are expected to be declared throughout the week.
