She’s a soap star veteran who has made her home in the world of theatre. 

And Michelle Collins took safety precautions amid the coronavirus pandemic as she wore surgical gloves to sign autographs while leaving the BBC studios on Saturday. 

The actress, 58, appeared on Graham Norton’s BBC Radio 2 show to speak about her role in Harold Pinter’s play, The Birthday Party.

Michelle cut a stylish figure in a faux fur black jacket and a grey leopard scarf, which she used to cover her neck and mouth.

She complemented the coat with blue bootleg jeans, black pointed stiletto boots and accessorised her outfit with a black bucket bag and blue tote. 

The star appeared to be in good spirits as she chatted to fans while signing autographs.

During her interview, Michelle asked Radio 2 listeners to support a petition to fund childhood cancer research. 

She later took to Twitter to thank the host for having her and co-star Tristan Gemmill on to talk about their play The Birthday Party which will open on April 2 at Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. 

Pinter’s comedy is set in a boarding house, and follows a group of fractious characters arriving on a birthday. 

Another star to grace the Radio 2 studio was Vanessa Williams, 56, who looked chic in a blue fur collared coat with a pair of Leopard print boots.

In true Ugly Betty style the actress, who is currently starring in City Of Angels in the West End, was accompanied by an assistant carrying coffee as she strutted her way out of the building.
