Terrifying video shows the moment a Colorado deputy fights off a wild mountain lion with her bare hands.
On Wednesday afternoon a female Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy was attacked by a mountain lion crouched underneath a trailer in Loveland.
Officers were called to the scene around 1.50pm when the lion pounced on a civilian and a sheriff’s deputy on the 2100 block of River Rim Road.
Video from the confrontation shows the deputy on the ground and the lion aggressively jumps on top of her, leading officers to shoot at the animal.

In the clip the deputy pushes the lion off her body and puts her arms out to swipe its snout away from her face. A nearby officer kicks the cat in the end, leading it to scamper away.
Officers then shot at the lion as it ran off towards the nearby river.
A witness said the deputy is lucky to be alive.
Resident Gregory Scott Paul said he came out of his home when he heard police sirens and he saw the lion and the deputy go head to head.
‘It started creeping towards them a little bit and they took three or four shots at it,’ he said to The Coloradoan.
He pointed to the bullet hole hit in trailer’s septic tank line from the gunfire.
‘It lunged at the lady deputy from about 10 feet away. She put her arm up and it got her on the right shoulder. Luckily she did that cause if not it probably would have gotten her right on the neck,’ he added.
He estimated the beast was about six feet long.

The mountain lion moved east across the river but was hunted and fatally shot by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials on Black Crow Road near Highway 34
He said the lion was shot by the officer’s bullets but darted under another trailer and ran down the park towards the river.
The deputy and civilian were both transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
The deputy was bit by the lion suffered non-life threatening injuries but the civilian’s injuries are unknown, as per CBS.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s office shared this statement following the attack
CPW said they are investigating the matter. They tweeted that the animal was killed because it was a threat to human safety
Parks front office manager Jennifer Hall said that the mountain lion came within four feet of employees working by the river. She was in her golf cart heading from her camper to the office when she saw four or five officers draw their guns and fire.
‘I just immediately started freaking out because you hear gun shots and you think maybe it was a resident,’ Hall said.
CPW said they are investigating the matter. They tweeted that the animal was killed because it was a threat to human safety.
At least three people were attacked by mountain lions in Colorado last year.
